Trying To Age With Grace

Life is full of transitions, and one of them is aging. Trying to adjust to the changes in your body can be hard sometimes. I am slowing down, and that is normal for a dog of my age. But, over the last week, I was having more problems with my hips and getting up off the floor, so Doc did what any good dog mom would do, she took me to the Vet’s office to see what could be done.

At this visit I saw Dr. R. who I have seen off and on over the years. As he discussed my case with Doc I started dosing off when they were talking about things like the Myelin Sheath that protects the nerves around the spinal chord. “ Ho hum, let’s get down to business, so I can go home, eat some lunch and take a nap,” I thought to myself. After much discussion they took me away for an Xray.

Having your legs moved around while lying on that cold table is no fun, but I know that’s how they get information to help me feel better, so I cooperated. After going back in the exam room, another discussion was had about how to move forward. I do know for all of us, whether man or beast, it’s important to have good quality of life. I trust Doc to do the right thing, so for now I will start by doing some physical therapy and some acupuncture to relieve the pain from my arthritis. Dr. R reminded me it’s important to keep moving, going to work taking a few short walks everyday and taking my medication. He also told me how much everyone cares about me, so I need to take care of myself..

When we left, Doc looked relieved and this morning at work, the staff looked relieved when they heard the news. It warms my heart and makes me feel lucky that so many people care about me.
