Moving Forward to the Next Chapter
Walter made it through his first set of holidays without too many glitches, even thought Doc was a bit anxious about how he would do with all the family in the house. Luckily Doc’s family love animals, so everyone was patient knowing he is still learning how to act in polite society. That is how we all learn, through trial, error and hopefully guidance and some boundaries by those in our life that love us. It’s all part of the transition to being an adult.
Walter is not the only one that is transitioning. Doc could not help but think of me and my last Christmas and how much things have changed since last year. She became a bit melancholy when she saw her great-nephew Cole in the back yard with Walter on Christmas day as he played with him just they way he did with me so many years ago when I was still a puppy. I guess that’s what they call the circle of life and a reminder that holiday’s can be a time of celebration and also a reminder of what and who is missing.
With the new year, it will be time to move forward while still honoring the past. Walter is starting to get to the age that he will no longer need me to speak for him. My main pupose will be done in helping Doc and everyone that loved me to move on and embrace a new little soul that will fill my place. Oh, you don’t need to worry, I will still keep watch over all of you that I have loved and helped along the way. It’s just time to embrace a new chapter and to let Walter lead, heal and comfort in his own unique way. I have no doubt that he will grow into a wonderful therapy dog and that you will all embrace him and his uniqueness.
