All I Need To Make Me Happy Is This Doorstop
I am already finding out at my young age, that it’s usually the simple things in life that bring me the most joy. For example, when Doc and I get to work, the first place I go is down to the kitchen to fetch the rubber door stopper to chew on. I like to carry it around the bulding to show the humans my prized possession and will even hide it under my dog blanket in Doc’s office so I know where it is in case I need it later. It brings me comfort and makes me wonder if my reason for becoming a therapy dog is to teach the humans around me to stay in the moment and appreciate the little things in life.
Doc says that if you stay open, that joy and blessings in life, already know your address and will show up if you let them in. True joy is not found through fame, power, posessions or money. Those are only quick fixes that never really fill the void. Real happines comes from things like being of service to others, being thankful for your blessings instead of focusing on the problems, laughing with friends and paying attention to things like the full moon on a clear star filled night just to name a few.
As an almost seven month old puppy I count all my blessings when at the end of a long day I lay across Doc’s lap whie she gently strokes my head and I know this is the safest place in the world for me. But, I have to say that there is one thing that woud make this experience even better, and that’s if Doc bought me my very own doorstop.
